Does any of you make music? Feel free to promote yourself in this thread (if it's not against the rules). I'd love to hear.

here are some little demos I made a while back. Had the idea to try to set some new melodies to some very old lyrics. wandered off to go do other things/real life instead of finishing the songs, as happens. if you're reading this, feel free to do whatever you'd like with this material. few things would make me happier than you hear these old songs given new life. all material hereby placed into the PUBLIC DOMAIN ~~~~~~~~~~ O'Donnell Abu ~~~~~~~~~~ Proudly the note of the trumpet is sounding Loudly the war cries arise on the gale Fleetly the steed by Lough Swilly is bounding To join the squad at Saimer's green vale On every mountaineer, strangers to fear, yeah Rush to the standard of daunt-less Red Hugh Bonnaught, and Gallowglass, throng from the mountains Pass onward for, O'Donnell Abu! Princely O'Neill to our aid is advancing Many a chieftain and warrior clan Thousand brave steeds in his vanguard a'prancing Justice on High! On the banks of the Bann! Hearts shall quail at sight our mail, though Deeply merciless foeman rue! Burn his ears with our old fight song! Our war cry, O'Donnell Abu! *guitar noises* Wildly o'er Desmond the war wolf is howling Fearless the eagle sweeps the plain The fox in the streets of the city is prowling And all who would care are banished or slain On with O'Donnell, fight the old fight (yeah!) Sons of our land are valiant, and true Make your Saxon feel your steel now Strike for your country! O'Donnell Abu! O'Donnell Abu! O'Donnell Abu! O'Donnell Abu! O'Donnell Abu!
I have a melody in mind for the chorus, but it seems I didn't get it recorded. ~~~~~ ALL FOR THE ROSES ~~~~~ He's Twenty-five, and sick and tired time to try the other side The B & I to paradise and sergeants and their men. He's never been to Dun Na Ri combed the beaches after three Chips and beer and greenery Sergeants and their men. Signed and took the soldiers crest A decent man in battle dress bugles blow you do your best for Sergeants and their men. It's all for the roses, it's over the sea It's all for the roses, Finglas boys to be. He's way ahead, second to none fabrique nationali gun Marching bands with Saxon blood Sergeants and their men. They landed with the sinking sun Invasion by the media run Covered up and kissed with tongues Sergeants and their men. The phantom gunner danced the end Battered human bodies bled They butchered us, so we butchered them Sergeants and their men! It's all for the roses, it's over the sea It's all for the roses, Finglas boys to be. But a flower of sleep grows on his grave Forgotten soon, the cowards and the brave But the coldest hate still lives today for Sergeants and their men. for Sergeants and their men. for Sergeants and their men. for Sergeants and their men. It's all for the roses, it's over the sea It's all for the roses, Finglas boys to be.
sort of a work in progress. the quasi-chorus needs some tweaking to separate it from the verse correctly. ~~~~~ A Nation Once Again ~~~~~ When boyhood's fire was in my blood I read of ancient freemen, For Greece and Rome who bravely stood, Three hundred men and three men; And then I prayed I yet might see Our fetters rent in twain, And our land, that's long a province, be A Nation once again! A Nation once again, A Nation once again, And our land, long a province, be A Nation once again! And from that time, through wildest woe, The hope has shone a far light, And nor could any summer glow Outshine that solemn starlight; It seemed to flash above my head In forum, field and fane, A sweet angel voice around my bed, A Nation once again! A Nation once again, A Nation once again, And our land, long a province, be A Nation once again! (chords shift) It whisper'd too, that freedom's ark And service high and holy, Would be profaned by feelings dark And passions vain or lowly; For, Freedom comes from God's right hand, And needs a Godly train; And righteous men must make our land A Nation once again! A Nation once again, A Nation once again, And our land, long a province, be A Nation once again! So, as I grew from boy to man, I bent me to that bidding Spirit every selfish plan And cruel passion ridding; For, thus I hoped some day to aid, Oh, can such hope be vain? When my own dear country shall be made A Nation once again! once again! once again! once again! once again! ~~~~~~~ oh, A Nation A Nation oh A land we'll call our own oh, a nation oh a nation oh a land that's all our own our own! our own! our own! our own!
